His Name is Jesus: The Promise of God's Love Fulfilled

If you are unfamiliar with the works of Max Lucado he is Christian author who has written several bestselling books.
“His Name is Jesus: The Promise of God's Love Fulfilled” by Max Lucado is a beautifully bound and illustrated book and would make a lovely gift presentation for a baptism or a new Christian.
The contents of the book lead us through the life of Christ: His Birth; His Mission; His Death; His Resurrection and His Legacy. The illustrations are lovely and a perfect complement to the story of the life of Jesus.
One selection from the book tells us “The next time you are called to suffer, pay attention. It may be the closest you’ll ever get to God. Watch closely. It could very well be that the hand that extends itself to lead you out of the fog is a pierced one.”
If you are seeking a closer relationship with Jesus or know someone you would like to introduce to Him this book is a fabulous selection.

THE DANGER OF ANGER

Holding a grudge can be a dangerous thing for anyone, but especially for us as Christians. If there is one thing that can keep us from the relationship we desire to have with Jesus it is holding on to anger in our earthly relationships. The Bible tells us that anger is an open door for the enemy.

Ephesians 4:26-27 (New International Version)
26"In your anger do not sin": Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry, 27and do not give the devil a foothold.

Satin knows that once he can get inside our minds with the smallest doubt he can quickly grow that doubt into an all consuming distrust. We will soon find ourselves questioning everything that people are saying to us. We find ourselves looking at our loved ones as the enemy instead of the one who really is.

Concern over what other people think of us instead of what Jesus thinks puts a huge gap between us and God. If we find we are worried about people’s perception of our lives; we will soon find our ego so full and overwhelmed by pride that we are in the throes of sin with no room for God.

Psalm 10:4 (New International Version)
In his pride the wicked does not seek him;
in all his thoughts there is no room for God.

Holding on to anger, grudges and pride turns our thoughts from kindness and compassion to revenge and settling scores.

Ephesians 4:32 (New International Version)
Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each
other, just as in Christ God forgave you.

Today it is my prayer that we remember that Jesus has already settled the score for us on every level… that we will desire all of our thoughts to be on pleasing Jesus and not the world… and that when we feel anger we seek the one true mediator.

1 Timothy 2:5 (New International Version)
For there is one God and one mediator between God and men,
the man Christ Jesus
